The third and final stage of the National Sports Museum, ‘Champions’ celebrates the history, tradition and achievements of Australian racing.  It is also the new home of the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.  The collection features many gems from icons of Australian racing including Trainer Bart Cummings’ 12 Melbourne Cups, Phar Lap’s racing ‘colours’ (silks), bridle and racing plate and the skeleton of 1890 Melbourne Cup winner, Carbine.  The opening of the Champions gallery marks the completion of the National Sports Museum project and is a welcome addition to the wide array of sports represented.
